182 alternator

  Golf GTD Mk7
Mine has been whining. Car is currently in bits, so I'm wondering if it's worth sticking a new one in, or can I fix the bearing on the pulley?

Where is cheapest place to get a new one.

Mine went last year! Got a 2nd-hand one out of another 1*2 with more miles than my own had and it's given no problems :)

The thing is, i'm not sure if its definately on the way out. It just sounds like the bearing is going, but i've been told that you can't replace the bearing. All I need to do is remove the slam panel and remove the old one as the engine is in bits anyway, but i'd rather put the money towards other things if there is a cheap fix?

£23 is a bit of a random figure ;). How many miles has it done mate? How long until you remove it? Renault were quoting me around £300 for a new one
