182 at Motorpoint Dont think so!

Need help/advice here!

Im new to this site and recently posted as im thinkin of changing my hugely expensive to run scooby to a Clio 182. Ive just returned from Motorpoint who offered me £6500 for my mint 1999 Impreza Turbo against £11999ish OTR for a 182. Obviously the price to change is the figure to look for and ive heard stories on here that people are getting 182s for less than £13K. Is this widely the case? If it is im surely gonna be better off with Renault as they would give me a better price for my car? Plus better resale value, alarm and chance to specify cup otions?

Thoughts please???

Buying from Motorpoint you wont be able to specify the Cup options, which Im sure you would want on the car. Plus youll only really be able to go with what they have in stock, so none of the I.D. colours will be available.

Price wise you should be able to get a good deal out of a main dealer. Some people have paid a little more and had 0% finance for 4 years, others have paid less but not got interest free.

Motorpoint would offer to fit you an alarm which is actually better than the one Renault add to the 182 at the import centre! But you wont be on the national security register or get etched windows.

Other than that theres no other differences. Just shop around the dealers, or if you are lucky and know someone who works for Renault have a word with them about Friends and Family.

Cheers guys.

Motorpoint tried all the scare tactics like no more coming till October etc and came across unhelpful and turned a simple situation very complicated by pushing their unimpressive finance options on me. Not impressed!

I purchased my 172 from them in March of last year as at the time dealers werent doing any deals. It all worked out great for me, they had a few in stock and a choice of colours. I recently traded it in for a 182 and got a grand less trade in than if it had been a UK car, but I paid a lot less for it so I was more than happy.

Shop around though as dealers are doing deals now.

Try playing a few dealers off against each other and go for the one that offers you the best deal. You WILL definitely get offered more than that for your Scoob its just a question of how much Renault are prepared to budge on the 182 figure so their figures match up. Also if you are going to be borrowing money to bridge the price gap then a 0 % finance option is worth serious consideration for what you will save.

Your best bet is to phone around, i recently got my 182 with cup bits for just over £12000 from barkers of preston.

I phoned around about a dozen places throughout the UK finally finding the one i wanted i.e.. colour, extras and IN STOCK.. It was in stock and i collected it a few days later.

A baragin at £12000 considering Renault dealers were wanting nearer £14000 and had a 2/3 month waiting list.

However, there is no alarm or window etchings, but its not difficult to find somewhere that will do you both for much cheapness.

I am the first registered owner and it was registered the day i picked it up.

also it would be worth your while doing a search on http://www.autotrader.co.ukwww.autotrader.co.uk

as there are tonnes of places selling new 182s for around £120000

Good luck
