182 bonnet

i had an accedent today a kid ran out in front of me and i could not stop in time (i wasnt going fast about 15mph when i hit him hes ok) but he rolled up my bonnet and dented it and cracked the black plastic on the inside of the light.

i am not claiming on the insurance so does anybody know if other 04 clio bonnets and lights are the same as the 182?

and are they expensive?

it is a terrable experience and i hope nobody else has the same happen to them im still shuck up now from dinner time.

Who is legally liable for this damage? The kids parents surely?


Why should he have to pay out or end up paying higher premiums after making a claim as he hasnt done anything wrong.

cant claim because i wont be able to afford insurance next year.

but i am going to phone my parents home insurance and see if home insurance covers this type of thing in public liability and if it does i will put a claim in againt his parents.

Have you spoken to the parents? Are they arguing about it or something?

Do you have legal cover on your insurance? I wonder if you use that to pursue the parents but not actually pay for the damage whether it will alter your premium.


If you end up paying for it mate I would go round one night and put some paint stripper on their car or something.

no i havent spoken to the parents as it only happened a few hours ago

the police said they will contact me next week to give them a full statement when they have all of the witness statements in

so untill then i dont know whats happening

i am really gutted as my car is only 3 weeks old

police and ambulance were there took the kid to the hospital think he broke his nose, and they breatherlized me which i passed because i dont drink and drive

the police seem to belive everything will be alright though (lets hope so)

Ah right well keep us updated cos this can happen to anyone and Ive always wondered where we stand if a pedestrian especially a minor decides to damage something that we have worked hard to pay for.

Bonnets will be the same, but youll have xenons on the 182 which can be expensive.

got a price just to supply parts from renault today the light unit is £169.91(no bulbs as i dont need them)

the bonnet is £133.87 and the kit for it (was told it was needed) is £30.63

plus the painting charge

i was also told the bonnet for the 182 is different to all others even 172s

and the front grill is £181.38

£169.91 PLUS the VAT £200 I heard bulbs are around £150!!!!

I just had to get one as the same happend to me(small child ran out in front of me) cracked the light and windscreen. then to top o=it all off when the guy cam from Autoglass to re fit the windscreen he dented my bonnet when he was shutting it, instead of dropping it to close it the w**ker pushed it shut.

Never Use Autoglass

Id tell your insurance in case they fail a where theres blame theres a claim for the kids broken nose

the bonnet kit i assume is the latch with the requird nuts and bolts

front grille is the most expensive bit of plastic in the world!!!

Dont use Renault to spray the bonnet, some of the stuff ive seen come out of their bodyshops has been criminal
