182 brake lights

my rear brake lights on my 182 arent working, well the top light is but the other two are not! im not good at all with anything like this so would be really gratefull if anyone can tell me what to check or what the problem could be. thankyou

The brake lights are the bottom lights in the rear clusters. The fogs are the top.

I thought he meant the top light as in the 3rd brake light?

If it's just the bulbs gone (you can easily see if the filament is broken by getting to the bulbs as per below), halfords have a little book by the bulbs section telling you which bulb number to get. Then it's really easy (so easy even I could do it) to get the lights out to change it... as per this thread

Says the top 3rd one is working but the others aren't. Its either bulbs, fuses or bad news.

Yup, I was just saying I thought he was referring to the top 3rd light in his top post working, not the top light in the rear cluster, ie the fogs.

thanks jen, yeah meant the 3rd brake light i've took the back lights of and the bulbs look fine, going to check to the fuse in the light tommorow, do all petrol stations sell fuse's? also if it's not the fuse what could the problem be :S

I had a brake light bulb go this week and the filament looked perfectly fine. Could be that they've broke but doesn't look like it. Maybe worth getting a couple to try for what they cost (50p) before u check other stuff.
