182 cambelt dilema.

  Titanium 182
Want to go view a car,
asked about cambelt they said it hasnt been done but doesn't need to be done till 70k.

How do I tell them they are wrong and ask them to reduce the price without looking a "Know it all" arse or someone who's just trying to get them to reduce the price?

Just say to them that it needs to be done at 5 years regardless of mileage, if they won't budge move on and leave them your number.

Buy an example privatley thats been looked after by someone in the know and bypass the usual "del boy" patter bullshit that these salesman claim to know about.

Just rang the guy, it is a private sales and he seemed genuine. Admitted he didn't know much about cars and said if it was due the belts we could come to an arrangement because he wouldn't like to sell it and have it break down.

seems reasonable enough then. Get a couple of qoutes first preferably emailed or faxed to you. You can then show him proof of the costs involved and use it as a haggling tool

Personally id rather buy from someone thats in the know, Clio 182's are performance cars and so the service intervals and maintenance should follow suit.

If it was the difference between paying say £500 between one thats had the belts done and been reguarly serviced at the correct time than one thats been owned by someone who maybe isnt sure, then i know what id rather!

This is just me, but im picky lol

Best of luck with it whatever you do mate!

The cars on 35k so it's not like it will have missed any major services yet (Just!)

so should be fine. Only going to look anyway (Or thats the plan)

I'll try find some quotes or examples online of the price and print them out

cheers.

should be ok so long as you get both belts done when you get it. whats the age of it? spec etc?

lol too slow. So its due next month then. He's a nice fella if he knocks the 500quid off for you.

Yeah hoping to knock him down to £5.5ish ? think it would be worth it for that otherwise not worth it ?

I would push it to about £5k tbh, the current market is the reason I have decided to keep mine

How much would a black 182 on a 54 plate with 47k miles and FSH cambelt just done be worth then do you reckon because thats the other option

I've just emailed him, querying the belts and movement on the price to account for the cost of the service (as if I were a potential buyer).

If he gets back to me, I'll let you know...

Stick with the arctic blue, imo. Black gold is a s**t colour to keep clean. Mine looked better than Jain's arctic when she had it, but that was after several hours of additional effort on mine.

The arctic just needs a good wash to look good!

Good to know, depends on the condition of the cars and which price is best I guess.
