182 conversion

Hi

i joined about 2 months ago and now need bit of help.

i own a 1.2 16v mk2 ph2, what it is i just bought a 182 engine it has all the wiring loom, front and rear suspension disc etc, ecu, engine number, 182 rad, for £700 done 12,000 miles.

I've had a qoute to fit it for £800 he said it is about weeks worth of work but just need to know if i have everything, have to reply to him this week or i will have to wait a bit longer to get it put in that why info needed asap

Sounds like you got a good price for engine and fitting . Hope its possible . I'm sure you'll get plenty of replies as there are alot of good , knowledgeable people on here who can give ya all the info you will need .

Where did you get that from?

Have you got the keys for it or at least the plip bits and the uch so that the immobiliser

you need the chassis number from the car the engine came from, a new UCH, you also need the key and some other stuff

i have got the chassis number and the ecu but i dont know what the uch and pilp key is where would i find this as the engine was out of a 54reg 182. What happens if i do not have these and is there anywhere i can get these from, all i know is i have everything else and mint condition engines like brand new think still has to be run in

The insurance i am going to do after i have it installed got a qoute of £1000

is the pilp key an actual key, wont the engine start without this or the uch?

what happened to the 182,that the engine was in...just our of interest.

£1000 for insurance? how old are you? thought it will be way more than that! engine transplant etc...

to get insurance on a 1.2 modified to a 182 for a grand he must be around 22..

It was written of rear and side damage got it from local breaker

21 years old, 3 years no claims, on a real 182 is 1200 quid.. (3 points too tho)

they love to SHAFT modifiers so thought it would be a lot higher than that..

The UCH s a bigish rectanual box which is fitted under the passenger side glove box. You can buy the bits from Renault if you need, £250 or so for a UCH then programming which is 20 mins or so.
The plip key is the plastic bit of the key what happens is this sends a signal to the UCH which then checks with the ECU that thats the right code if it is the right code then the imobiliser is disactivated. Thats why you need the ECU UCH and plip as they need the same codes if no you need to know the registration of the car the bits came from as Renault can use these to program the plip etc to starrt the car you can get away with an off the shelf etc as this accpets the imioobiliser without needing programming so long as it never been used before.
Sounds like you have a good buy there though.

Its not realy a prob;lem whichever you don't have as you can get new ones and reprogrammed anyway the only problems is if you don't know either chassic codes or number plates.
New plips uncodes are £40 or so then its say 1 hour to get two (you want two ideally) coded.
