182 creek from steering/suspension

Has anyone else had any problems with a 182 and creeking from the steering/suspension when turning the car on full lock? Im getting a loud squeaking/creeking noise when turning to the right. Ive also noticed the car seems to skip a little when turning at very slow speed on full lock. Dont know if its related on not. The squeak is like a rubbing noise and is very loud. Any help or experience appreciated.

this is normal mate, they all do it, sometimes i think the wheel is about to fall off on full lock coming off my drive !

yep mine does this as well! Feels like im driving over a largish stone when on full lock normally when reversing out of my drive way - told the renault guys when i had my 182 serviced and they told me they tightened the suspension or steering mounts (cant remember). This did solve the problem for a couple of weeks but now its happening again!

Dont know about the squeak - I say book the car in and get it checked over.

I agree iwanta172. Just hate going to Renault as I can guarantee ill get a dent/scratch/curbed alloy or something! The squeek is definitely coming from the suspension and can be heard when travelling in a straight line over speed bumps as well now. Just thought the wheel skip may have been related but obviously not.

Mine went in 2 weeks ago for this and they replaced the near side driveshaft. Not solved anythin ! Warranty work must be a nice little earner for dealers ...

Unless the engine falls out I really cant be arsed goin back to reno again. Might even get it serviced somewhere else next time, car seems to come back with more faults it went in with! ..... s**t i forgot goto go back Saturday for another fault!!!!

mine creaks when reversing and going over uneven ground. must be normal.

My cupped 182 creaks... and it does it a bit more than my non-cupped 182 used to.

As for the skipping, my cupped 182 does it too (i think its the camber setup)... I didnt get any skipping in the uncupped 182, but I owned it when the weather was warmer (which could mean better grip, therefore not skipping).

Anyone else?

I had a really imitating creak from the steering column on both my 172 and 182. On the 182 I got so sick of it I booked it in. They replaced some switch or something in the steering column. That fixed it no problem.

its the rotary switch that would have been replaced its common on all clios not just the sports stuff. A goodrenault dealer should know to replace it straight away.

Youll know if it needs doing mate, the creaking comes from under the cowl which sits behind the steering wheel.

Its the switch just in your steering wheel for the air bags, they are also known as sqibs i think
