182 - CV Joint?

  Mondeo STTDCI
Have a very, very slight unhappy sounding noise coming from the front nearside wheel.

Thought it may be a wheel bearing so jacked it up and spun the wheel and checked for movement also, all seemed well.

Doesnt seem to depend on the levelness of the gound so that puts suspension out.

So...could be CV joint/gaitor I'm told. Any other ideas?

My CV popped off last week. I diagnosed it through the grease that was coating the inside of the wheel and the spokes. The boot hadn't split, just popped off.
To check, jack the car up, whip the wheel off and slowly turn the driveshaft looking for any cracks or leaks. If you can't see any, it may be an idea just to whip the tie off the boot and re-grease then fit another tie. This may help to eliminate the CV.
