182 Fix From France (?!)

  Mondeo STTDCI
Took mine in with grinding sounds this morning on full lock and a bit of a rattley suspension issue.

Just took a call from the service bloke...he said that they got in touch with Renault, who emailed France, who emailed back, and said there is a fix entailing replacing the strut tops. Whatever that means.

Hopefully get her back at 6.

Wish me luck!

There's a well known modification for this so god knows why they needed to email France.

Sounds like they've used that as an excuse to waste some time matey.

Hope you get it back on time anyway.

PS - I've had the mod done and the noise still came back as have others.

All they do is remove the suspension top mount and grind away some of the suspension turrett so that you cant hear the noise of them knocking

I've heard this noise a few times . Is it essential to have it fixed , will it cause any problems if i don't ??

had mine sorted by Mike@Rentech last weekend, no noises anymore. Its nothing essential Billy, just the suspension rubbing against the bodywork in the strut tops, (not really damaging anything).

Right. What they said was they looked on ACTIS and there wasnt a fix, only for the 172...so they said other dealers have done the same to the 182.

They spoke to RUK Technical ppl and they called/emailed France and after some translating a new fix is apparently on its way to ACTIS for the 182, which is what I had done today.

Which is exactly the same "fix" as the 172 fix, except that they recommend that the strut top things are replaced! Which they did.

Result = doesnt make any nosie currently. Strangely feels a lot more "tight" if that makes any sense. Could be placebo effect from driving the 1.2 8v Rush all day. If you sneeze whilst driving that the power steering is so light it will take you off the road lol.

Weird feelin isn't in when your in a 1.2 courtesy car , steering feels way too light , almost dangerous , then when you get your pocket rocket back it feels like a ferrari on the way home ,lol ;)

The best bit was when I went to pick it up, and they said

"What everyone was so surprised at Mr Wilkinson was that you knew the fix before we did. Its not even on ACTIS yet you quoted it. Everyone was quite surprised".

Renault!
