182 Insurance

Was wondering, who have you got your insurance with?

Just called up bell direct (still have 6 months left on my 205s policy with them) and they have never heard of the 182.

Even asked me if its an import, engine size etc... Worst case is, they are not treating these Cup packs as factory options at the moment, but as additional modifications to the car, re lowering etc etc...

Basically a load of rubbish, so I am interested in what you guys think?

Shall I cancel my policy when the 182 arrives and start afresh with someone else or pay the difference (something ridiculous as I will find out tomorrow when they call back, think the person guessed to be about ?00-?000 for the year fully comp!)

I am 26 with clean license and 5 years NCB based in Croydon.

Cheers,

Ed

Best do a search the words insurance is a always in the threads.

Your better of going for another insuracne compnay if they want loads extra you should be able to get insured for a under £500.

Other companies that use the same quote software have the 182 listed.

Try Elephant and Admiral!

Admiral only got the car on their system last week and they will treat the cup options as modifications.

Under 500 quid youd be lucky been ringing round all day today and the best I got was £510 with a £410 excess with Norwich Union no one else could get within £50 of that and Im 28 with clean everything living in one of the lowest car crime areas in the country !!!

Ive got my current policy on my Saxo with Bell Direct, and am going to change it over when my 182 arrives.

If you look on their website for a quote the 182 is listed, Im quoted on line 598 with 150 xs!!!!

Just been on Bell Direct website.

Renaultsport Clio 182, standard spec = 509 with 160 xs

Renaultsport Clio 182 with front/rear spolier(cup spoilers), lowered suspension <5cm and non-standard alloys(cup suspension) = 625 with 160 xs!!!!!

116 quid extra for factory fit options thats a disgrace!!!

I think a word might be needed.

Okay,

Direct Line quoted me £200 extra until August, based on these Cup extras. Which turns out to be £960 for the year come my next renewal.

Guess I have to ring round to find a better price from someone else, even Saxos got a decent quote from its on-line engine. Think Bell direct and Elephant uses the same quote engine as Admiral...

Going to try Renault and Direct Lines in a sec.

Thanks Nealcoope, saxo2clio, Nick and Paul for the help.

Possibly try Admiral, Ive never had a problem with them, even on some Imports Ive looked at getting insured.

Im 25 and pay £850 fully comp on a MK2 V6

Wow, thats a really good rate, Simo.

Just tried Renault online, quoting me £830 on the 182, so either you have the V6 locked up in a steel cage or Croydon has become notorious.

Not heard of greenlight before, but will give them a try badinvincible.

thanks guys, more searching...

what, did they charge you extra for the cup bits, its a factory fit, you dont have to declare them? I am insured with them and didnt tell them?

Yes Dave, wasnt sure about this myself either, like you said its factory fit. So how have you find them so far ?

But the sales rep went to check with her manager about it, and came back with £200 (Cupped) and £130 (without cup bits). I was being extra careful in trying to cover all grounds, as I dont want any niggling problems with them if I need to claim.

Spoke to Renault Insurance and they said as it stands, they only have the 1 entry with the 182 on the system, so with or without Cup bits, it will still be the price quoted. I can however *call back* once I have taken the policy to let them know about these cup bits (thus hiking the price up! I bet).

Any industrial experts would share a light on this?

puzzled...

Cup bits are classed as standard specification!!!!:

Is your car modified from the manufacturers standard specification? (e.g. alloy wheels)

You want to live in Manchester!!!!

182 - 27 years old - 9 years no claim - no points or nothing

Some wont even insure me! only over 30 in that postcode. To give you an idea the best quote i got on an evo in my postcode was £2,200

Got it with AXA in the end £799. + coz its new and im first keeper if you write it off and it goes walkies they give you a brand spanker in the first year. Thats got to be worth a few quid on its own

I just got a quote to cheer myself up as Im selling my valver. £850 fully comp + pncb, that was with Egg and the only quote I have got so far. Im 25 6 years ncb I was happy with that !!! Selling the 16V is not so depressing now !!!
