182 Manifold

got a few questions after buying a 182 manifold :)

1. I will be either coating or heat wrapping the manifold before fitting, obviously this will lower the engine temp. slightly. Im woundering if this will have any effect on the engine as are they programmed to work best at a required temp. or is it ok dropping the temp with heatwrapping?

2. I will be fitting the manifold along side a custom made exhaust with a decat.
i. Am i ok running it on the standard ECU setting for awhile without it being remapped?
ii. Should i bodge a 172 cat to fit ready for MOT time or should i just buy a 182 cat? (182 cat is lower cell rating isnt it though?)

3. 182 Manifold + SS exhaust/Decat + ITG filter + remap = ??? bhp (just an idea :))

thanks for your time

1. If only heat wrapping was that good lol. No need to worry about anything like that.

2.
i.You can run cams on the standard ecu so yes it will be fine.
ii. 182 cat wont fit, its too big so forget that. Cat from any car will do as long as it will fit. 172 cat will be pushing it too, imo , as you might have to cut the silencer part to make room for bolting the the exhaust together. Front spring kit needs room. Just over 14'' is a rough guide for the length between the mani and the centre section.

3. 12bhp maybe. Will feel more responsive but not gonna set the world on fire. You want cams for that but good build up mod towards that goal.

I have read somewhere that if your heat wrapping manifolds, your better to paint the first in high temp paint than wrap it.

I think it said in the thread that if you don't the heat wrap can collect water/moisture and cause rusting and cracking of welds etc down line :(

Lower the engine temp ??? well try heating the exhaust gas temperature. It will bring not noticable power- torque gain
