182 manifold

  Pulsar Gti-r,LY 182
iv bought a 182 exhaust manifold and am wondering if its worth fitting ? i need to do the clutch on my car anyway so the subframe will be off and i need to buy a cat back system to go on just dont like the idea of having to cut up a shiney new decat if it wont give me much gains

cheers Mickie

Yes pal, at least from my experience it is indeed. I have a cammed 172 and fitted the mani last week and it gave me more torque back than it used to have with stock cams, very nice bump in responsiveness below 4k and now I have the extra topend cams give with good torque low down, best of both worlds. I have a friend that is mechanic and cost me nothing to install, just the item which wasn't exactly cheap, but nothing with the clios is I'm affraid.

yeah im a mechanic myself so getting it done isnt not a problem just wanted to know if its worthit first and having a pulsar im used to expensive parts and jobs that are a pig to do haha

I would. Just dont expect amazing gains, as the 172 manifold is still very good. the biggest improvement is a far smoother torque curve

The only thing you gain is better low down grunt but you lose the top end slightly if you go from a 4-1 to a 4-2-1 manifold. For the cost of everything and the pain in the arse to fit it isn't really a worthwhile mod.

I've done a guide if you want to look at what's involved.

As said, I would, but don't expect it to blow your mind. Biggest gain would probably be from a decat (I) fitted with it. I managed to bodge an MOT cat from the old 172 cat which was useful. Because I had the 182 manifold, it's a piece of piss to swap the decat out when needs be.

Yeah well as I said I'm dropping the subframe anyway to do the clutch and flywheel and I'm not really fussed about looseing top end speed as iv got the pulsar if I want to go quick lol it's just cause iv got the manifold sitting there

i did too when clutch-time was there, cambelt was also done so all in one go. As said, power is good and above all the yearly MOT changing cat/decat is a bonus
