182 noise

  clio i think
hi there guys, had my 182 for a couple months now.
Noticed that when the car is moving that there is humming noise, not super loud but noticeable
Was advised by a friend could be wheel bearing, seems to come from the front, is this common fault or you guys reckon it could be something else
Car is lowered on eibach springs from previous owner

Appreciate any help, or better if anyone in Essex can come check it out before I take it to Renault

Does it do it around 40mph and 70mph?

Sounds like a wheel bearing if it's humming. It's a common thing, but just like any car really. Just normal wear and tear part.

Sounds like a wheel bearing, but also could be an out of shape tyre, see a lot of budget tyres going out of shape and creating a humming noise

  PH2 172
Could be mainshaft bearings.
If the gearlever moves backwards and forwards as you come off/on the throttle in all gears except 5th, it would be confirmation.

Good grief man don't take it to bloody Renault !!!

It is probably a wheel bearing or a tyre. Could be box issues.

Swap wheels from left to right and see if it goes.

While you're doing that.. check for wobbles when the wheel's off the ground which could be a bearing going.

Thanks for your guys responses. Found a Renault specialist not far away which I will contact.
I haven’t had the chance to swap the wheels around, but I have jacked up both front sides and check if the wheels wobble. There isn’t any play to be honest, and the tires are uniroyal and have plenty of tread. I’ve checked both tires for any bumps, both seem straight and round
Most likely be the wheel bearing
It happens when I accelerate above 10mph, I’ve not gone over 50mph just in case.
Anybody know much of twotech in Dartford?

Managed to get this sorted. Big thanks to TwoTech in Dartford
End up being a problem with the wheel bearing which was very worn cost £150. Also had problem with the ABS breaking as the cog in the driveshaft was also very worn £200.

There is fault with my heater, they said it was the heater motor which needs to be replaced. New cost around £150, or I might be able to pick up one second hand. Anyone had this issue before?

Christ, 200 quid to replace a ten quid ABS ring?!!!! seems a bit steep
however glad you got the car sorted
whats the actual fault with the heater? doesn't blow, only blows at one speed, no heat?

A brand new genuine front bearing is £60, I'm guessing that was fitted the price you paid?

Also, once again I presume the ABS ring change was labour included? Still seems expensive but its done now.
