What do you want from a car? It would be full fat everytime for me, but if you can live with the Cup get one of those?

I've seen early 172's & the seats go all ruffled on the base,
is this common on all 172/182's??????

tbh mate, the cup has air con, not got CC, which i wouldnt use anyways... ok xenons i would like, but they are no great loss, and the seats are exactly, only retrimmed in leather/alacantra.. depends how much you are saving, but either way, you will be getting a good car!

I own a Cup and I love it. If I was buying just now I'd probably get a full fat 182, but when I bought my Cup, finances very very tight and it suited my needs and got me the same car for less money.

Day to day I'd imagine the Cup isnt as nice a place to be in, in tactile terms, but it's the same car at the end of the day. As for those 20kg, I like knowing that they arent there, and I like knowing I dont have the 'toys' which I read horror stroies about on here every day. AC and cruise will do me fine in my Cup  But I would probably opt for a full fat if I was currently in the market - bit older, wiser and richer.

I have Full Fat 182, love it. If you can afford it I'd go for the Trophy.

Try to find a FF182 with the Cup Packs on, Best of both worlds (but yes a little heavier).

Also you can fit 172 parts onto a 182 FF. Cup version has different hubs (or something) so when it came to fitting Eibach springs etc, you've got more choice.

as above get the trophy or failling that the ff 182. the 182 cup isn't like the 172 cup were they tried to strip all the weight down, no abs , no air con etc. all they did i'm reliably informed was change the leather for cloth & do a little to the suspension & offset, which you can get as cup pack options.

I'm most probably going to get a trophy early next year, and the only things i will really miss are the xenons, climate control and the nice rear bench seat.

I'm sure with the trophy, you'll forget those little things...

Full Fat. 182 Cup is a slight on the Cup brand. It's no faster, just cheaper.

agree, if you look at the Focus St they have three different verisons, ST1, ST2 & ST3 and all the performance figures are the same and I bet the weight diff between them is similar to the diff between the 182 & 182cup

What do you get with the Cup packs? Is there more than one pack to choose from and which is best?

Also, how quick are these Clios? What is the actual 0-60 time for the 172, 172 Cup, 182, 182 Cup and 182 Trophy?

I'm sure this is covering old ground but, as you can see i'm new to this Forum.

There are two cup packs

Cup spolier pack- Additional lower front spolier [Cup splitter] enlarged body coloured rear spolier.

Cup Suspension Pack- Lower ride height, stiffer springs and dampers, anthracite coloured wheels and revised steering geometry.

EVO 0-60 TIMES

MK2 Clio 172- 7.1
172 Cup 6.5
Clio Trophy 6.6
182 Cup 6.5
182 FF 6.6

Cheers Fletch, that was quick!!

I didn't realise these Clios were that quick. Hmmm....I feel a car of car coming on :approve:

Has anyone got a photo of a car with and without the spoiler pack?

No probs mate:D

I'd go for the both cup packs, the cup spolier looks much nicer then the standard.

I'd like to see how they cope. My dci about the hardes suspension I can stand on roads for ages.

as others have said, 182 FF, i enjoy all the extra stuff that you dont get with the 182 cup, and performance difference is pretty minimal anyway.

Full fat, cup packs and recaro option - everytime! oh and in black ;)

I agree. defintely the way to go.

But if you are wanting some track action, go for a Trophy as that is a lot better than a FF on the twisties.

One thing: Can anyone explain to me the point of the 182 Cup? To me it seems a waste of time.

It was cheaper to buy. Its 101% as fast. It'll spend less time in the dealers getting the broken toys fixed. Other than that there is no real point.

So in the real world, no difference at all between the cars.

Steve

Given the (alleged) six tenths difference between the 172FF and Cup, does that mean Reno could have made the 182 Cup a 0-60 in six seconds dead if theyd cut back on the weight as much as in the 172 Cup?

That really would have been pretty rapid... Opportunity missed...

dunno where that 6th tenths rubbish as come from with regard the 172FF and 172 cup.

For me the 182cup doens have the 'beneifts' of the 172 cup, thefore cuppedFF182 is the one id always buy.

  Black/Gold 182
182 FF with cup packs for me. Lots of nice toys (CC, Xenons, better stereo), much nicer seats and when I was buying, a choice of more colours.

Personally I'm not struck on the spoilers so I got mine with just the cup suspension pack.

I don't think I'm a good enough driver to notice the tiny gains of a cup. Surely it would depend on the driver size too, I mean Kylie driving a FF is going to weigh less than Rick Waller or whatever his name is driving a cup?
