182 order problem

Hey guys, was meant to take delivery of a 182 a week or so ago- the car was an ex customer order and the dealership told me it was available immediately....i put a deposit down with the intention of getting it asap.

They came back to me saying that the car had been accidently registered in the name of the customer that had ordered it. The dealership told me that if the customer bought the v5 in then it would be all sorted for early next week (tuesday 10th) this would of been two weeks since i placed the deposit.

However, i rang them today and they told me the customer didnt bring in the v5 so they are having to de-register it through the DVLA and it may take another 2 weeks! They are starting to annoy me now as i wanted the car asap and originally when i placed the deposit they said it was available immediately now it will be another 2 weeks making 4 in total (thats if it actually gets sorted when they say).

This has got me a little worried that they are trying to trick me into buying it pre-registered or something. I rang the DVLA and they said it shouldnt take more than 3 weeks in total and they also warned me about the pre reg issue.

I dont know whether to forget about this car and either order a new one and wait 2 months or so or source one thats available now. Thing is im paying about 600 more than what i should be and that would of been ok if i could of had the car when they said.

Tell them to stick it and demand your deposit back....its them that have let you down, not the other buyer as it was the dealer that registers the car.

Then get yourself off to http://www.motorpoint.co.uk/pages/home.aspMotorpoint and get your self one for £11699, they have at least 20 instock and all different colours too!!

The chap that ive spoken to seems nice enough and genuine but they have messed me about alot so i may just ask for my deposit back.

How much do pre-reg cupd 182s go for?

What Ive always wanted to know is how are motorpoint able to get 20 of them in stock (if they are in stock then they havent got people queuing up to buy one) when a Renault dealer cant get one for 3 months even if you wave £15k cash in front of them?

I guess it could be, but then that comes back to what I said once before about why are Renault giving right hand drive cars to left hand drive European countries when their UK dealers are crying out for stock.


I guess Renault get paid the same amount for the car whether it goes for £14700 at a Uk dealer or £11700 through the back door.

Makes you wonder why Renault dont just set up a website and sell them direct from the factory for £10k.

i say go the motorpoint way, stick on some fancy racing suspension and bobs ya uncle.

Motorpoint cars are imports. I looked at this - but you cannot get a car with the cup options from them. You need to add a cat 1 alarm, plus about 280 for their On the road costs

There are loads of brokers however thatll do a UK 182 for around 12500 - 12800 with the cup packs and metalic - though pre-registered (not that really makes any difference though).

Best I got the local dealer down to was 13200.

Gary - their story sounds right. If the car was registered it will take a few weeks to de-register it before it can go in your name as the first keeper.

I have just ordered one from Motorhouse 2000- the £11899 soon mounts up (circa £12.5k on the road with alarm) but is still substantially cheaper than dealer prices plus available much quicker.

One query- apart from lack of Thatcham alarm are there any other obvious gaps in UK spec- bit late to ask but I only went to look at the car and then dived straight in- Ive not even driven one!

Any help gratefully accepted.

Cat One Alarm:- £300?

Mats:- Would guess at £100 to buy from Reno, maybe more...

Locking Wheel Nuts:- no idea would guess at Reno charging a score maybe more

Toolkit/tyre spray (?):- dunno!

Apart from the alarm there is no difference. Ive not heard of a cup pack 182 being an import though.!!

Got fed up with waiting and them never returning my phone calls etc so i decided to get my deposit back.

Good news is that ive found one closer to home at a dealership, pre-registered and im going to be picking it up on wednesday!! Not want i wanted originally but hey, lets just say those stripes are gonna have to grow on me!

Just a quick pre-reg question tho, the invoice says it was first registered last month?! i thought dealers had to keep them for 3 months?

Technically they are supposed to keep it for 3 months.
Altough in reality they will let you take it straight away and send you the V5 after 3 months.

I take it you got racing blue with comp stripes. THat was my second choice Nice car fella, make sure that we get some pics.

mate, its not the etching thats important, its that fact that it is registered on the national security register!

no, unfortunately they werent available when I ordered mine back in October last year, they do look the dogs but I am not sure baout having them retro fitted. You wont be disappointed with the car mate, will look stunning!

I have a 182 with all cup packs, fully loaded (apart from alarm)on import from barkers of preston £12400

Any decent vinyl signwriter will be able to do it for you. Judging by the peeling reports elsewhere to a lot higher standard as well. Should also be removeable.

Im also buyin a 182 from motorhouse 2000 i rushed strait it aswell paid 12500 with 3yr warrenty cat 1 get it sep 1st!!! cant wait.......... any1 recommend a decent air filter which is good quality and sound??
