182 rattle of death ?

Hi. My car has started to make an intermittent rattle. Its not constant. If i put my ear down to the right hand wheel i can hear it. It seems to be coming from the bottom half of the cambelt side of the engine. When warm or cold. Dont think its the dephaser as its not coming from the top i dont think and its not constant rattling. Just a rattle like somethings loose. Could it be the crank pulley ? Pretty sure its not an internal noise. Anybody help? As i did wanto sell the car but cant until this is repaired.

Na that was my first thought. Checked over everything and its all tight.

Try alternator support bracket..... Cured my rattle

Tried that earlier. Got a real bad feeling about this now.

Mine is doing the same so also interested in suggestions. also checked the above. Mine gets really audible sometimes when over 4krmp. Kind of sounds like a ringing type metallic rattle.

Soon find out. Going to a specialist to be ripped apart this week. Hopefully tomorrow if they can fit me in.

Doesnt sound to good though to be honest. Sounds like apocalyptic engine failure.

Try unplugging the carbon canister in the wheel arch. Mine rattles on and off all the time.. I know it's the canister so can't be arsed doing anything about it

This turned out to be the dephaser. Even though it didnt sound like the top. It was vibrating through various metal components. £480 all in with belts etc. four ashes renault specialists.
