182 realistic for 4.5k?



Wife bought a 182 FF with 1 1/2 Cup Packs (front splitter missing) lol for 4.2K in December. Done 65K. Had to have both belts and tensioners done last month. Managed to get it done from Reno for £550.

Its in excellent condition.

Mcabbe thats a tempting offer, but I dont quite think ill be able to last that long!

Ill keep you in mind though.

Can anybody explain what FF or full fat means?

Having both cup packs?

ff or full fat is the spec, the ff has xenons, climate, alacanta thinker glass, sound deading and probably loads of other stuff!

Cup pack refers to suspension, spoiler pack is larger rear spoiler and front spoiler I think.

Hi Luke, i'm suffering the same dilema as you!!

I'm umming and arrrring about if I should get a late 172 and pocket the change or get a 182.

I'm willing to spend upto £5,000 but in all honesty I haven't found one that has had it's belt changed for this money.

I'm after one in cup blue or black with cup packs.

Yeah I'm the same as you fella. I'm in the fortunate position that I can do my own belts :) so that's not as much of a problem for me, more of a bargaining point :)

theres 2 black 182's on here mate within your budget.

Im also in the same situation i have about 4700 duno whether to get a mint 172 or wait a while and get a 182. really want a racing blue 182 so i think its better to wait tbh otherwise your not gonna be happy with what you got

IMO a good low mileage 182 is worth £6.5k,

Quite hard to find a sub £6k one without high millage, none standard or something up with it IMO.

FF is just a CS tearm for a cup packed 182.

if i was you id go out in a few different versions. when i was looking for mines i wasnt sure which one to get. I went out and drove all versions from the FF 172 upto a 182 cup.

I ended up buying an 02 FF 172. But alot depends on what you want it for. i came from having an mr2 turbo but was needing something a bit more practicle and refined to get to and from work. At the same time i was still wanting a decent performing car.

reason i went for the FF 172 was its still very nice inside with lots of extras and not alot different from the others performance wise. the 172 cup was awesome to drive as it was like an old car in a way with the rawness but it felt/looked like a dynamique inside lol and that put me off.

I paid £4800 with FSH 52k on the clock for a BG 182 with cup packs, bought it 2 months back. Body work is in superb condition, just has the usual one or two stone chips.

I look at the market on these daily & because of the lower demand for brand new cars 54/05 & 55 plate cars that have lost the initial hits of depreciation have had a higher purchase rate than normal + renault dealerships are low on supply-
Consequently since feb you have seen residuals on 182's move up a few hundred quid on CAP & Glasses-

I would stagger my Classification as follows assuming the 182 has both cup packs- Add around 500 for each car if the belts have been done by renault or a reputable Renault specialist like Mark fish / birchdown etc etc-
Take away £300 for cup packs if they are missing-



Silver 182 04 Plate 50k Is entry level I guess at around 4300 ish- add another 150 Quid to value for every 10k less & vice versa for miles-
Silver 182 05 Plate 36 k is middle of the road I guess between 4750 & 5k depending on vehicle quality etc etc again Applying the Mileage rule of thumb-

Black Gold 182 seem to be the most popular ( Again in line with the residuals of the pearl black 172's)

Black 04 Plate 50k Entry Level is I guess around 4500- 4750- Some examples are looking tatty & can be had at the real bottom end price 4200 ish-
Black Gold 05 Plate 36k are holding up very well- Sitting around 5k up to the real minters 5500- Obviously some having the Aux belt changed by now,but negotiation is hard with some owners not understanding the 5 year application for Cambelts-

6k would be the maximum you would ever pay for a 182-
That would be Mint 182 both belts done around 36k- Perfect paint/ alloys no dings-

I havent mentioned Artic Blue- As with the Monacco Blue it seems to sit in the middle of Pricing- its popular, but not as much as the Black- so therefor i would punt somewhere in the middle of the values highlighted above-


You will get a 182 for 4.5k no doubt- Its what level of investment you then have to pump in to get it to YOUR required level of Satisfaction & then possible modifications to add onto that-

If I was buying to one keep I would save your money- Save up another 500 Queens, look for one thats up for 5500 on PHeads. thats had the belts done, wait for 10 days or so when the seller is getting twitchy & secure for 5k Cash

remember how many owners,main dealer V independent servicing & things like how many keys it has all effect residual value-

Im selling my 182 mate...

£5,000 ono and its yours...

Its 05 plate, 43,000 miles, black/gold, anthracite wheels etc etc usual spec

Its all spot on really... few little scrapes on the wheels and thats it...

no scratches on the paint or anything...

sounds perfect :)

lol sorry... only reason I didnt post pics is cos I thought id then have to put it in the for sale section etc and I was just mentioning mine is for sale... that and im at work til 9 and dont have any on me :)

Bodywork is MINT - no scrapes or scratches
3 owners (although ive had it about 3 days as I got it as a part ex for my old car and decided not to keep it as I used to have a 182 (which is in my avatar))
It has 2 keys - and has had another immobiliser fitted if that is any good?
It has FSH
Unsure about belts... not had it long enough to check really - but im sure I could list it for more than 5k going off the age and mileage, so if they havnt been done... and the guy can do them himself... its still a bargain.

no chance of belts being done-

Simply-- people who dont know or arent 'in the know' dont get them done & wont advertise them in sale-

People that have had them done & do know what their doing will make them a feature of the advert to purge the sale....

I suppose without turning this into a for sale thread at least the OP is getting some good information

maybe... then again... if you can find a FF 05 plate 182 with 43,000 miles or less for sub 5k your doing well...

BUT in all honesty the belts don't need to be done yet :), you have a year or so.
Might be worth you getting then done them advertising it for around £5600 providing the car is in good condition inside and out

I do know about the belts etc but like I say... im willing to offer it for less than its worth in case they havnt...

cant really say fairer than that

I dont wanna turn this into a for sale thread... I just wanted to make the guy aware of it... as it may be exactly what he is after...

Im going to get some pics of it, probably in the morning and post a for sale thread tomorrow.

If he can do the belts himself... then for 5k ono... he is getting an absolute bargain imo

Don't agree with the comment on the 182 exhausts, I think they look sweet, it's like saying the v6 is bugly cus you get too much attention?? 172 is a great looking car, and you can get a beautiful one for the money you are looking to spend
 
i just traded in my 04 182 (both cups)...83k

for 4 gees...

with a LOT of stuff needing done to it inc cambelt/airbags and a long list of stuff..

they have a 55 plater with 27k no packs up for £7995 - shocking deal
another 04 with 22k no packs again £6495

because yours has nearly 4 times the mileage of that one i think they will struggle to justify anymore, but i wouldnt rule it out!!
 
I purchased my 182 FF, 2 owners with 59k last month at £5k. It's a 54 plate and a really straight car, belts done and well cared for so it's certainly possible to get a decent 182 for not much more than 4.5!
