182 rear bumper on a 172

  Suzuki SV650

Bit obvious where Im going with this but thought I should ask first...

Want a 182 rear bumper on my 172, purely for the holes and the exhaust look if I can get a suitable exhaust fitted as well, is it possible? Im guessing they are pretty identical in terms of how they fit on? (Mark 2 172 btw)

Or, would it be cheaper to source a Mk 2 172 bumper from a breakers and stick similar holes in that?

Lastly, the exhaust would have obvious implications on my insurance, but what about cutting holes in a bumper or sticking a 182 bumper on my 172? Thats modifying the bodywork so I assume I would?

Cheers.

to fit the 182 exhaust you will have to loose the wheel well in the boot floor which will probably be pretty costly to get done by a bodyshop

The bumper fits on the same.

As loony says the isnt much room behind the bumper to run the pipes and Id guess you would have to loose the spare wheel well to make room.

As already said, dont bother. Losing the wheel well will be costly, why not get a custom system made at powerflow thats a twin exit just not in the centre. Or just go down and see what they can do

you might be able to get a custom system made that goes either side of the well then back in a bit, with two exits slightly wider apart than the 182 system, get a bodyshop to cut the bumper and fit the 182 trims to give it a more factory look.

As Loony says im sure you could get around the problem, personally i quite like the discreetness of the 172 and would spend my money elsewhere, perhaps a Cup spoiler?

Just noticed that Ive even stuck this in the wrong forum! Hah, thanks for the replies though.

I did think the wheel well would be an issue, will probably get the exhausts either side of the well then, and cut the existing bumper, probably the easier thing to do.

I dont want the exhaust to sound over the top, I just want a nice "not-really-that-loud" sound, its mainly for the look and a lil bit of noise.

And whats different about a cup spoiler from my 172 one? Is it just slightly larger? Is that a mod that the insurance company would need to know about?
