182 residuals

I am trying to gauge the future value of my car as private sale. Opinions please based upon experience of 172s in particular.

Based on a 182 with metallic, Cup packs, UK car, no previous owners, Renault service history.

1 year old with 12,000 miles £10,000

2 years old with 24,000 miles £8,000

3 years old with 36,000 miles £6,000

What Car quotes 50% residual worth after 3 years, 36,000 miles for 182.

Ive had the same problem recently. Ive just put my 182 up for sale and its only 6 months old with 8k on it (with cup spoiler and suspension packs), and its not an import. Ive priced it just over 11k. Had a look on autotrader for similar cars and this was about the going rate I think.

  Meg on pistonheads £6995

remember than residual values are based on LIST price,

so a car that is easy to blag a discount on does not depreciate in real terms as fast as figures suggest!

say Clio worth 50% @ 3 years = 7250 (based on 14500 LIST), but if you only paid 12500 to start with ....

actually retains 58% of 12 500!!

thats as good as a VW, Beemer etc for approx. 14.5K sold with no discount
