182 Showing it's age? Mechanical Advice.

182 Showing it's age at 55k? Advice pls.

1) A nice loud humming sound coming from the passenger side - Wheel bearing I guess?

2) The engine had started to sound tappety (more than previously) - cam belt?

3) A slight missfire (despite being warm-ish) - Spark-plug? Related to (2) above?

4) Fuel-join in engine-bay is leaking - worth persuing under warranty?


5) Could my de-cat have caused any of the above?

like a chip on my engine is responsible for an over pressure in the oil pump.

missfire could be due to the fuel leak maybe?

tappy engine imo would be the injectors, or charcoal cannister, mine is stupid loud, and low speeds

if i had a fuel leak in the bay id certainly not be driving it unless you like impersonating a fireball. ive got a leak on mine at the tank so im naughty aswell lol but seriosly get it in under warrenty then screw the tits off her and get it all done under warrenty that what i would do mate

Make sure you clean your throttle body inlet often mine seems to idle better when the tb is clean.

Im on 44k now and 2 and 3 are a regular occurance.

Where's the carbon/charcoal canister?? I think mine's cracked, and hence the waft of fuel every minute.


I can't bear to drive it like this for another three weeks!

Elf fully-synth.

Changed every 6k (apart from once).

Gearbox oil is fully-synth too (changed twice so far).


So, apart from a carbon cannister & two wheel bearings, she's fine.
