182 slow?

  clio182,capri,defender90
Ive had my 182 for a while now and it seems to be slow,

The exhaust has a rasp to it coming from the engine bay area/ pass foot well could this effecting it?

And the inlet and plenum have been polishing on the outside could these have been fitted poorly?

The car has fully service history and has done 43k.

Ive never really had head to head with another 182 but watching a recent video on here with a 172 acceleration mine is no where near that pace,

Any ideas or am I just been paranoid?

A rasp is normal to a degree as for speed time it against a gps etc

as for fitting you could get them missmatched but they are missmatched usualy from new anyqway but check the gasget is put on right etc

Best thing to do is find somebody on here that's local and test it against theres from standing start

a rolling start would be better, second gear 10 to 100mph

or maybe stick it in 5th at a low speed and build up mph, you may be able to pinpoint any flatspots in power in relation to the rasp

exhaust blows on 182's seriously dent the performance, i had a car in and on the test run where a healthy car will hit 90 no bother this one struggled to hit 80 (customer first time, then i drove to double check)

Sounds like the exhaust is blowing to me. Mine was poor performance-wise (lot of noise, not much go) before it had a new exhaust.

I was going to say blowing exhaust. Put your hand over the tailpipe (well, both of them) and if no real pressure is being built up, and you can hear a blowing noise it'll have a hole in the system somewhere. Then it's just a case of finding it.

There's a few other things it could be, coilpack, spark plugs basically a general service, but the exhaust rasp leads me to believe there's something a miss there.
