182 SPEAKERS

Hi,just purchased 182 and not very impressed with quality of sound from stereo,taken it to my local ice dealer who told me if i spent £150 on a pair of new front speakers and tweeters it would sound lots better.Has anyone changed the speakers and if so did it have any effect.cheers

Well if you changed them alone it wouldnt do much good.

You might have to change the HU

Tried this in a 172, didnt work. You need a new h/u minimum, and probably an amp, as well as the speakers.

Would you agree that the stereo in the 182 is crap.Its just that in another forum i posted nobody seemed to complain about the stereo but i think its rubbish to the point that i took the car back to the dealers today to have them check it out,but they say its ok,its just that even when the bass is turned well down if i try playing music at a resonable volume theres massive bass like muffle distortion, when i took it to my ice agent he said that the front speakers where struggling with the power of the hu.Is this possible or should the speakers and hu be matched to complement each other.And if so does it sound like a fault system.

I replaced the "cabbase" unit shortly after taking delivery.

I bought an alpine 9833R and i have the stalk and display interface. Fits in with the dash perfectly.

the old hu is crap. The speakers are actually better than i thought and i havent binned them yet. (might do soon)

I keep trying to stress this point, in my 182, 22 to 26 is what i would call average volume i.e if someone in the car talks to you you can hear them no problem.But when your fave track come on and you want to pump it up and sing aloud , thats when things go messy.Thats why i think ive got a faulty system ie hu or speakers.Im only going upto 28 because lower than that in my car is not that loud.hope im not giving out the wrong signals that im trying to blare the thing out.cheers

Tom, was the problem with you hu of similar description to my problems.Over the years i have owned many hot hatches i.e fiests si,saxo vtr and vts,leon cupra and i thought all the stereo in them where good never had to change any of them thats why getting this cabbase one is such a dissapointment that i actually thought it was broke,but maybe this is not the case,maybe there just crap.

It cant do loud at all.

Its got a nice enough sound at low volume, but thats no good when your tanking it along.

Think yourself lucky, the Megane boys have to pay extra for that Cabasse unit, and many do!

Thought if i needed to buy a new set up,wanted to spend £300 ish so noticed the hu you mentioned is about that mark,so if i upgrade to that will i be impressed with the difference using the old speakers.Like i say all i want is to every now and then pump it up and get a good clear sound.Thats not been to greedy is it.

A friend of mine has got a basic cabasse radio cassete in his megane scienic that sounds better than my 182 cabasse upgrade?

Yep, Ive also just upgraded H/U and the standard speakers are not that bad
