182 to 182 cup

I've got a normal 182 and was wondering what the difference is between this and a 182 cup and can you fit the 182 cup suspension to a normal 182

If you measure the bolt spacing on the front hubs at the bottom of the shocks you will have either 54mm or 60mm.

If it's the latter then you already have cup shocks, if it's 54mm then you can fit 172 Cup ones.

Are the 172 cup shocks firmer than the standard 182 ones?

I fitted cup springs to my non cup suspension 182 when I had it and it was a tiny bit lower, a little stiffer and felt more stable. (Not that a non cup isn't great)
Iirc retrofitting 182 cup shocks involves changing the hubs and more which isn't worth it. You could of course change to 172 cup shocks which would fit straight on and along with cup springs would do a similar job. I believe they are a bit stiffer than standard shocks.

Well what's happening is that when I'm going a bit down some nice roads I feel it's wandering a bit! It's just gone through the mot so the bushes can't be that bad! So was going for some lowering springs either eibach or cooksport and new shocks but was thinking of putting 172 cup shocks on instead of standard 182

Is the rear wandering around? It could be rear shocks or just cheap tyres that is the problem.

Don't think it's the tyres Bridgestone potenza's grip really well round the corners but if the road surface is a bit tatty on the straighter bits it like wanders becomes a bit unstable

I agree. Check what you've currently got fitted before spending money elsewhere. Sounds like something is past its best and simply needs replacing.

Cheers guys will get those bits looked at! Thinking of lowering it anyway it looks a bit high at rear
