182,to keep or not to keep

Ok guys ive had my 182 for 3 months now and i frickin love it,didnt think id like it this much,any how s im in the RMP and recently been posted to Germany, here i get tax free cars with military discount.For instance i could buy a brand new Ford Focus ST3 for £12,900 with all the extras. So the question is do i keep the clio mod it so its a rapid little bugger, or sell up for something els at the end of the year, 197? ST? What do you guys think cause it seems you have to spend mega bucks to get greatly improved perfromance would just like it to be as fast/faster than a focus ST or keep up with a clio v6.
So what do you guys think???? help

I'd be tempted to flog it and buy secondhand in germany - hot hatches aren't the 'in thing' there as they're not german luxobarges lol so you can pick stuff up dead cheap! Someone off one of the forums ebayed an Escort Cossie for about £6k I think...

haha if i could insure it the insurance is a bit more expensive out here although you get your no claims every january,so i insured my car this month and i get my no claims in january so the premium goes down again.Whooo

Yeah I'd flog the 182. The ST3 in a better built and a more reliable motor IMO. The speed of the 182 will soon fade. I've had a 172 for a few months and it doesn't feel fast anymore because unfortunately we get used to it.

What makes you think the speed of an ST (which as stock, isnt much faster at all) wont become familiar just as the 182?

If you want a fast car thats comfy (which is what the ST is) then get a proper car like a BMW 330 Ci or similar, with a proper engine and RWD, so handles better.

... that's what I'm saying man, whatever we drive we get used to so why not go for something a little stronger and reliable. 330's and the like are a fantastic engineering but too expensive to run. Something like the ST isnt. I'd certainly rather have something like the Civic Type R over the Clio if I had had a bit more dosh to play with. Don't get me wrong I love the fun my 172 gives me but the ST or Civic is a better buy.

Its fuel economy for starters, is actually better. And I doubt servicing is all that much different. I cant see a 330 being much more to run than an ST. And a 330 at the same price as an ST (say a 2 or 3 year old 330 versus a new ST) will have done most of its depreciating, so when you sell it on, it'll claw back the tiny amount extra it costs to run, and more.

my mate here just bought one keyless lock thing the bright orange one 12550.Does look the buisness,going to have a drive and maybe see if the 182 can keep up with his,also the VXR is about the same price due to all the discount, youcould get a brand new fiesta ST for 8500,crazy.

250bhp? S60R is 300bhp standard with a RICA ECU Upgrade, it goes to 340bhp, which for a car for that size may not sound a lot, but it has 460 N.m of Torque (after RICA)

Mate of mine got one 2 months ago, makes my car look like a 1.4 and it gutts me..

Have to agree...the ST is no performance benchmark.....it's just that everyone if making a fuss as it's been a while since Ford have produced a performance car with a turbo.

I would sell the 182 due to the fact youll probably want an autobahn crusher. The 182 wont be much fun on a simple straight line.

Yep, something quieter and more refined for crusing would be ideal...the 172/182 isn't great for long distance/M-way driving.

Ive got the car on finance with renault though payed a 4000 deposit then the rest over three years and then that final amount at the end.Stupid question but would i have to sell the car privitely to pay it off or could i trade the car in to the tax free place in Germany and they sort that out adding it to my new finance for the new car?????????????????????????????????????????????
