Im planning on fitting my avic x1 breakout box under the passenger seat tommorow and running the wires underneath the passenger carpet.

Are there any wires at all running under the passenger carpet at all?

Also how hard is it to lift the passenger half of the carpet?

Might try threading the wires blind from under the passenger seat .

Cheers

there is the rear loom for the car that runs down the passenger sill, but not under it.

only wires under the passenger seat are the few that links the seat belt pre-tensions to the airbag ecu etc.

Easiest way of lifting the carpet is to pop off the inner sill panel, and pull it upo from there.

The carpet is in two sections, front and back. Which joins in the middle under the front seats. To actually get the carpet right up, you will have to remove the seat. 4 bolts accesable from under the car.

see what you can do!

Ahhh ok cheers

Ive had a quick look today and removed the storage holder thingy from under the seat and have noticed the carpets a little baggy near the centre console so i may just try and feed the cable up without lifting the carpet.

do the pre tensioner wires run anywhere near the centre console do you know?

If the carpet isnt that hard to lift ,only need to lift it a little i may have a go at taking the sill cover off....hows that attached is it bolted or just hled on with catches?

Thanks

You'll managed it with the seat in. Just remove the centre console and you should be able to get your hand/arm down the carpet at the front and feed the cable through to where you can pull it up under the seat.

There are no wires/cables running under the carpet as standard, they all run down the sill in some trunking.

I know this is a little offtopic but saves starting another

Ive only fitted the box for the Avic X1 today under the seat i plan on fitting the headunit tomorrow.I had it professionally fitted the first time but found there was a problem with the unit so i took it out myself not too difficult.

Ive only just got it back after being fixed and plan fitting it myself tommorow.

The only thing worrying me is say if i trap a cable behind the unit when sliding it back in as its a little tight behind, could this catch a light or would it take a fuse first?....thats the only thing worrying me about fitting it myself.

The loom that comes with the X1 as a Fuse built.

Any ideas guys ?

Thanks

It'll blow a fuse first, you've never seen a tight hu until you've seen the back of mine anyway :rasp:.
