182 With Most bhp

im just wondering whats the most someone has put their 182 to, bhp wise. and also what has been done to the car for it to get to its bhp.

highest i recall seeing was 220bhp, cant remember who's ti was, but thats had a lot of work

Mine is a 182 Engine and it is 225bhp with 175 ft/lb in a 172 Cup shell - Dyno was done on MASS Racing Engine Dyno, not rolling road.

When Put on the rolling road the figures were about 2% higher using losses.

Rolling Road Figure was 229 BHP Calculated flywheel figure.

well I took it to ireland for the weekend - thats how confident i am in it in terms of reliabilty.

It has done 5000 miles since September, flat out, most of those on trackdays or going to trackdays.

We completely re-built the engine from the bottom up, so the cost was a lot more than it needed to be, but it was pretty much a race engine, so needed it to be good.

Cost to do it to someone else's engine. around about £6k - typo (that would be for the clutch, oil cooler and everything else.)

mine cost more due to the oil system and all that.

just for the bodies and stuff you will be looking at £3500 - £4500 fitted and mapped depending on the spec of the car to start, for about 210-220 BHP

BTW - I think that BB are working on their turbo kit into a 182, so i think that will be 260 / 270 bhp.

The turbos have the most but I think BBPT and KTEC are 172s.

Yozzas ia a 172.

So I think Ross' 217bhp is the highest true 182.

lol, to be fair I hate those on off clutches too... I can drive em like, but it's not nice... dunno how you, Fred and 2 live can put up with it, would drive me bloody nuts!

finally there`s a lot going on in the clio tuning world. lots of throttle body convertions, turbo`s and exellent although costly N/A tuning. fair few 200hp+ clio running around now a few 250+ and two 400+ bhp cars !!! and they weight nothing also so there fukin rapido... also a fair few hybrids and some great suspension kits out and about (LEDA for one) its a really cool time now, when i first got my 172MII (bout two n a bit years ago) there was only posts on 172`a about indcution kits and exhausts, now theres a lot more money going into it which is suprising me as the trend for most people is to buy a Vag/jap Turbo and tune cheaply.
