182 won't start, starter rapid fire

Issue: car won't start. Starter motor fires rapidly like a machine gun. All lights turn off. Doesn't even try to crank.

Background: fitted new brakes today and drivers drive shaft yesterday. Only electrical connection I've been near is unplugging brake resivoir cap, can't see how a problem here would cause an issue even if it was broken?

Immobiliser light flashes when car closed up.

Battery seems fine as all lights work etc. but not checked voltage as my multimeter is at work.

Help?!

Battery is flat by the sounds of it. Just because the lights work doesn't mean the battery is in good condition.

Battery, or earth (either onto chassis, or battery.)
