197 engine code??

Whats the correct engine code for a 2008 197??

Is it F4R?? I have seen this number followed by 730 etc on here and was just wondering what the correct designation was for the 197.

its printed on the VIN plate on the inside of your drivers door, all info is on there IIRC

F4R 830 should be a sticker on the metal cover for the timing belts/pulleys

duh, the one thats on the drivers door pillar has other info on like coloyr, options etc.

it does have that stamped on the block at the back, not sure why

Thats why i asked as i thought they were F4R, yet has F4A stamped on the rear of the block!!

My understanding is the 172 / 182 are F4r blocks that it is slightly smaller than the 197 block F4a something to do with the gearbox pattern / fitting being totally different hence not being able to fit a JC5 box to the block without modification to the block I believe is the same block is in the 225 (obviuosly different components as it's turbo).
