197 fuel gauge problem

Filled up with a full tank last nite, pump cut off when around £57, on starting
Engine up the the fuel indicator only went up to 3/4 and computer stated 247 miles left, tried again today and its still saying 3/4, whats gone wrong?

Probs a fault with the fuel level sensor or whatever they use these days
