197 Gearbox in a 182 :S

  172, Tiguan
I've had a good few ph2's and I can't remember them revving that much, though maybe it's because my 197 is pretty noisey and I've got a memory like a fish.

I guess the main difference was you could drive a 1*2 off cam at a good speed on the motorway and achieve decent mpg, whereas the 197 at motorway speeds is drinking heavily.

Our phase 2 (one 172 and one 182) are both almost exactly 20mph per 1Krpm.

The diff ratio is different between the Ph1 and the Ph2, thats why I have gone for a Ph2 box on my N/A mk1 clio and on our RS2 car, and a Ph1 box on the turbo one, as the N/A works well with the lower gearing, puts just over 150mph at just past 7500rpm which is perfect match but on the turbo I'd be running out of rpm by 160ish where as it is it will go over 170mph on the Ph1 gearing.

Ah right, so the rolling radius is different Chip? Assume thats 195/50

Yeah 195/50/15 is smaller although not by as much as the gearing is different so even on the 16s the ph2 is still doing slightly more rpm than the ph1 at the same speed.
