197 manifold onto a 172 ???

Not to well up on the 197 so is it the same engine as the 1*2's ??

Same motor. however you pose a good qustion on the manifolds. I would presume it's the same as the 182, 4-2-1. It's not a beneficial mod anyway tbh!

What the 182 mani...No it does fit, just needs a different link pipe between the manifold flange and the rest of the system. Its a c**t of a job too.

Still have it. Just use it for hacking to work these days. The glory days are gone. Instead of lambswool washmits and Porter cable it gets pressure washed by the local polish garage for a fiver lol

Wasnt to bothered about the overall length as thats easy to modify ;-) but would have to check over clearence issue's then ??
Id been offered a 197 exhaust manifold for £100 so was just an idea

I`m still unclear on this, can the 197 exhaust manifold be modified to fit the 172 ? I have looked and the bolt arrangement at the gasket end looks to be the same. I have been offered one for £150 and another guy is selling a 182 one for £210, i will have both modified to fit either way to my existing exhaust system. But i thought if the 197 bolts upto the cylinder head and the lambda sensor connection is the same.. i might aswell go for that?. I`ve tried to negotiate with the guy selling the 182 as he is closer and point out someone else is offering the 197 for like £60 cheaper, but i think hes set on his price.
