197 Stolen (sort of)

You need to talk direct to the Joint Administrators - Andrew Stephen McGill and Mark Jeremy Orton.

They are the organ grinders, not the monkeys & will be able to advise you of the correct steps to get your car back. If you can.

Tried that (KPMG appointed administrators) but they won't take my call. I e-mailed them and suddenly their workshop manager is on the phone saying the car is just going on their geometry test and will be signed off as complete. Another conflicting story as they said it had been road tested yesterday and was ready for delivery.

Any update then??

Yes, just. KPMG just called me following my threat to call the bib.

They are claiming that RBS (who own Direct Line) are witholding payment for repair work as they believe that they will have no recourse should the work that has been carried out comes into question at a later date. Direct Line won't be able to claim back if the works shoite.

I offered to pay for the work myself and then Direct Line can refund me but they won't have any of it as they know I would open a dispute immediately with my credit card company.

In all the millions these people are making it all comes down to numpties with conflicting stories of who's to blame. This saga goes on.

Re: 197 Stolen (sort of) Updated

Jesus H Crist. So after more fobbing off by both parties I find out at lunchtime that two "families" were re-issued with their cars as a gesture of goodwill. I absolutely lost it with the administrators who called me back in 10 minutes flat to give me my car. I had to go and get it but at least it's returned to it's rightful owner.

When I got on site the KPMG guy came to reception acting like he had done me a favour. I told him what I thought of his practises and how the Financial Ombudsman was going to be in touch.

Upon close inspection I have to say that the match of the paint is perfect, exactly as it is to Renault standards (not sure if that's a good thing). There is one untowards scrape on the roof of all places, like some cnut has dragged a box of the roof. I will polish that out the weekend. God she's good to drive, better than I remember :)

Update, respray is shoite!! took it to a bodyshop and they have pointed out a few flaws with the respray. Overspray/pitting/missing clearcoat?

Direct Line sent an inspector to see for themselves and he agrees, the repair company dropped the ball. Now they are booking it into Hylton Renault of Worcester; not sure it's a good thing. The original repair company have refunded all £500 excess so there's something good in all this. 37 days and the car still ain't right.

Hylton in Worcester are a good bunch fella, only dealer I used more than once. And there's a stunner on reception.

Hylton did some work for me on a previous car and was faultless. Top bodyshop, terrible courtesy car though

Let's see wgat the outcome is. Direct Line say that they have acted in accordance with the policy. My involvement with KMPG (the administrators) is between me and them, Direct Line are refusing to accept they have anything to do with the issue!!. Letters have been sent to the Financial Ombudsman.

Fair play to Lloyds TSB though, as my credit card company they immediately put the £500 excess payment in Escrow (holding account) while these cnuts sorted it all out.
