Shhh
Got a phone call from mum yesterday saying that my little brothers clio has had immobiliser issues and that they cannot reset the code as it goes through the radio.
Ive never heard of the immobiliser system working through the standard fitted radio needing the 5 digit code to be entered to unlock the car, then to have a button on the dash to set the immobiliser.
Is this true then.? As little brother has binned the radio months ago, very unsure if mum has been fed incorrect information here about this, never heard of this, figured it would be something to do with the key having a chip fitted or something.
Car is a 1996 P reg clio 1.2 Paris.? asked if it was RN / RT but she did not know. im miles away, she took it to renault and they said they wants £400 plus for work inc parts, but i explained to her that they are not interested in fixing a car that is 10 years old when no one will be trained up on that car anymore..
Any advice guys, she got a local
mechanic to by-pass the immobiliser for the moment, but think its been declared on the insurance so need to get this one put to bed asap..
regards,
Alias
