2.0l engine into 16v

Alright i was asking a few weeks ago about best way to tune a 1.8 16v (asking on behalf of friend without internet) it was suggested dropping a 2 litre in with headwork, and cams would give him the best gain.

But what he wants to know now can he bore the 2.0l to 2.2l???

And if so whats the crack with the pistons fitting???

So if anyone has experience with this sort of thing, your advice would be much appreciated!

Cheers

Not sure about the pistons etc but i do know that boring out to a 2.2 isnt recommended as the head-gasket becomes too thin to be 100% reliable.

Im doing a 2,1L conversion right now.... Using std. crank balanced with a lightened flywheel. Lightened and balanced rods using 85mm Peugeot 206GTI pistons. They are very light weight and the piston sleaves has a very nice teflon coating. There is a lot of work in this, as the pistons has to be modified. Pin hight, valve pockets. Piston fitting to the rods is not a floating fit but a press fit. So there is a lot of machiening. Block is bored to 85mm. Head gasket is 85mm diameter, 1,2mm thick, so headwork/block (compression) becomes an issue.

You could take the easy route and get 84,5mm forged pistons from Prima Racing..... but then again.... You still have to bore the block... and wait for the pistons.... The Peugeot is stock of the shelf!!!!
