2.0L Turbo Clio

Just came back from Renault London West, The engine mount on the front right hand side (drivers side needed replacing) for the second time within a month.

Anyway one of the service guys told me that next year renault will be releasing the clio 2.0 Litre Turbo, They are sticking the Megane 225 engine in the clio, he reackons it will be in the £18,000 range. He also mentioned that they are also upgrading the 225 megane with the 3.2 V6 engine.

Just imaging a 225bhp in the clio, bloody hell that must shift.

I thought i would share with all of you.

Its not your fault pocket, the rumours have been floating around for months. Everyone that has a little bit of insider knowledge has said it will be non turbo 200bhp. Why blow their wad this early if they can horn the megane in at a later date and watch customers lap it up?

As for the others, who knows what there planning. Megane will probably just have more BHP to keep insurance down and economy up. And the Vee probably will have a 3.2, IF they ever make one

Aye, but a standard Clio isnt the weight of the V6, nor does it have the 3.0l engine behind your head.

From what I thought the megane 225 is based on the clio 182 engine with a turbo???

From the Renaultsport specialist salesman in Camden Milton Keynes, he was saying that the new clio model will start comming in by the late 2005 but said doubtfull of a turbo and just going to be a N/A but pushing around 200bhp and based on the new Modus floorplan.

Cant see it but that would be the dogs balls performance wise!!!

Them 225s shift so the little clio would tourcher allsorts!!!

Shame the new clios look so sh*t tho!!!

There is a Megan sport with 250hp comming out in Cup spec although I think its more cheap spec rarther than lightweight.

The only turbo new turbo Clio will be the 1.9 140hp Dci model going in the sport.

is that the best diesel they can get i think a 150-160 bhp one would be much better.

as for the bigger engined clio i hope that they do make a bigger engine for the new one with a 6speed gear box and a better made dash!!

The petrol engine is the same size 2.0 but is an F4M rarther than F4R but no one knows for definate the changed, what it will make for definate 192 seems a good guess though.

140hp is a little under the competition from Seat and Skoda but it is lighter and anyway a remap will see probably 175hp which is 182 levels or speed and 50% better economy. Im dribbling already.

id go with the remap as i dont consider 140bhp to be that amazing even if you do get wads of torque. Plus the seat 150 offering is pretty punchy i drove one in work and it was pretty guid considering its redlining at 4.5k (sounds sh*te tho - lol)

Would like to see a 200bhp clio with the 6 speed box as i think it would give the golf gti and tw*ty cooper S a big slap (172/182 s do that anyway)

No point, Jeremy has already spoken. :D

Still cant believe the service guy was trying to convince me the next one has a turbo, and when I said it didnt he said thats not what Ive been told.

  Clio 200 Cup

Funnily enough Renault have just announced a 202bhp 2.0 turbo in the "new" Laguna....theyre calling it the GT205 and it has all leather trim and smoked alloy wheels....146mph and 60 in 7.2secs...Mmmm, Clio GT202 anyone?

The service people are probably trained on ones that have the turbo, that would explain why they dont have a f**king clue how to fix the current models.

Yes it would be nice, but i wont happen for a couple of years. Maybe once theyve facelifted the new model and want to re-ignite the market. Remeber, there isnt anything in the current sector that comes close to the current clio, so theres no need to go over board and put the car out of reach of buyers

They sell the 1.0 in some markets at the moment its just a smaller down bored (if that makes sence) 1.2 engine.

Sorry, no and no.

i think renault shouldnt even bother with turbos my self as their engines seem to be good with out them. i think its an easy way out of developing a powerful engine. i.e look @ the new golf gti. the car not even pushing 200bhp with a 2ltr turbo. ok you can gain more power but look @ the intergra dc5 type r the car is capable of 230+bhp from standard and have heard of some reaching 260+bhp with slight mods and this is an n/a engine.

If renault keep up the good engine work they will be second to honda which already make engines that develop more bhp per litre than any other production car on the market.

They should do what honda are doing and keep well away from the turbo.

Damnit...We need turbo clios here...ours are all asmatic with the lack of decent air pressure
