2 problems

1. i am sure my trip computer keeps resetting itself, i am sure i am not pressing the reset button by the dials (not something you can really do by accident.

2. i can't seem to get the anti-hijack door locking to work, i have tried setting it, but t locks for a split second then unlocks again

any ideas on either would be great, or the way to set the anti-hijack would be good to just to check.

Same problem i've got...But not changing the batt just for that!

Are you on about making the doors lock when u turn the key in the ignition? i need to know how to do it aswel :)

Mine also does this and only noticed it since I moved my battery to the rear of the car. But I hadn't linked the two until I saw this. Is quite annoying but then sometimes it doesn't do it.

My anti hijack thing still works though. I forget how its done. Is it ignition on, hold for 5 seconds, ignition of, ignition on?

dj - do you think you could be accidentally earthing somewhere in your connection now its moved to the rear....

i was thinking if it was the battery or the alternator not giving it charge the performance mods i can gain from this

anti hijak shiz is just hold the button down for 5 secs until it beeps, same to reset it, locks ur doors/boot after 5 secs

looks like i may go jap then......and possibly relocate to the boot, i am guessing though it would be loosing charge due to the alternator?

if thats the case i may need to look into a new one of those.

my ph1 does it too, annoying as f**k as i have to manually work out mpg.

batteries just have a working life of about 3years. as they dont like the cold or the hot or constant changes in temp.

If ou kept your battery at 20deg c constantly it would probably last 6-7years!

I don't fancy getting another battery yet as made the box to suit lol! So hopefully its fine!

It shouldn't be earthing anyway it isn't from the + as nothing would work and fuse would of blown surely :s

Well, as per my thread mate - I've just changed the battery and it still does it. :(

As for the locking situation, I've had a variety of odd electrical based goings-ons, but they all sort themselves out when I turn the car off and start her up again.

Tis really annoying me, especially since it looks like I shelled out for a battery for no reason.

well i got a new battery.........

and its still resetting the trip computer every bloody journey, its dam annoying... going out to mess with the car today, may disconnect the battery again and try resetting everything..

does anyone know how to set the anti-hijack then?

You've cursed mine, it's done it a few times this week... I've also had a new development in intermittent indicators! That's fun when trying to get into my road.

You turn the anti hijack off and on by holding the button down until you hear a beep.

1. I could have just been the weather. Mine seems to reset after particularly cold nights.

Still shouldn't do it though. Mine did it every time I started the car from 'cold', so I replace the battery and now it does it occasionally. I'm attributing this to UCH problems...

read up about the anti - hijack whilst i was out working on the car, have turned it off, and now turned it back on again... hopefully this should help

I had a similar problem with the start, changed the battery and was fine for about a month, before it re-ocurred....
Its now getting a new earthstrap from the battery to the shell/chassis, due to excess corrosion within the cable.

You could try that next...

well both these problems are still happening....

i have tried various with the trip computer and even after a battery change it still happens..

as for the anti-hijack, well that seems confused as hell

i tried setting it and it locked the car after about 8 seconds, i wasn't even in the car (its meant to lock when you start driving at 4 mph....)

Dash is resetting due to the voltage dropping below a certain minimum needed to retain the memory.

As said this is often caused by a battery on its way out. Relocating it to the boot will not help as the voltage will have to travel further and you will have the same problem (I had this on mine.)

the only way I managed to stop mine doing it was to wait for the fuel pump to stop priming before cranking.

You could also have excessive current draw by your starter motor.

Make sure you are starting the car with everything switched off, ie interior fan/heated window etc

brand new battery dude, it shouldn't really have an issue, i have noticed a few times that the car has struggled ever so slightly to start.. and i have been starting it with the stereo and the blowers working..will look into this
