2005 Clio Turbo

Hi there,

Ive heard that there wil be a new clio in 2005.

With a new Engine. 2.0 Turbo 240BHP.

That engine with a turbo can easily gets to 270BHP, but i heard that its only 240BHP limmeted of Marketing reasons. (probebly of the 3.0 clio)

Theres nothing "new" about the engine, as far as i know its just the 172 engine used in current models with a turbo bolted on??

thats what the Vel statis uses IIRC

the megane turbo is 225bhp.

the clio will not have more power than that.

thats marketing suicide

On top of that, to much power through the front wheels imho. 225 is about the upper limit, otherwise you will just eat tyres every couple of 000K miles.

Also, its getting a bit close the the V6s power.

200bhp max from the 2005/6 clio.
Is more than ample considering the current car is only 172ps (170bhp) and still manages to be bl00dy quick.

The big thing is the massive torque gains well see from a turbo!!!

That will make it a very quick car and the mid-range power surge will be awesome!

shame, you would have thought they would have kept it. There is a market for it out there, but i suppose its all to do with keeping it ltd production and keeping the interest there.
