205/45/16

Cup wheels are 7" wide yes, so will a 205/45/16 be ok and will it improve grip?

Black Circles have GS G3 for above size at £93.80 each. Not much difference in price between a 195 or 205. Can anyone find anything cheaper?

dunlop do 205 FORTY 16s dont know if the lower profile would help out ???

195-45-16 = 582mm =22.91 inches Diameter

205-45-16 = 591mm =23.26 inches Diameter

they are a little bit bigger but should not make to much of a difference.

195-50-15 = 576mm =22.68inches

205-40-17 = 596mm =23.46inches

Danie...going by those figures, you and i should be capable of very similar times then since Im running 205/45 16 and I assume youre running 205/40 17...a whole 0.2 inches.

Although wheel weight would also influence that too

They will fit, but youll alter the feel, grip & handling of the car...

Personally Id stick with a 195

The Williams wheels are 7" wide as well but run 185s as standard, 195s look right but 205s would be tractor style wouldnt they.

Robin....we should be rather close, depending on the weight as you said. All I know is that my 17" are much heavier than my 15".

The problem I had at Tarlton is that I went to 4th gear before the 400m and at Westbank I stayed in 3rd all the way.

Logically you should be faster. You have more than a 100kg less weight and your gears are longer.

Id get a 205 next time for my cup wheels because theres no protection for the wheels on 195s..

I really dont like the feel of the 205 contis on my alloys..

205s will slow you down and cause more tramlining at the front!

I would imagine that the new 182 had modified ratios to accomodate the new size tyres.....but well soon know the answer to that one!

Rob - My A539s expose the Cup wheel even further than the contis. So makes parallel parking that extra tricky if you clip the kerb.

Im not suprised the 205s wreck handling..the cup must of had those tyres decided as the ones from the start because there is a protective lip..but it doesnt come out far enough!

Why did you get A539s Ben?

Got A539s because they were 40 quid each. So cheap as chips but very slidy in the wet. Dont get me wrong its good fun sliding around but not when your tired from a days work and you cant be arsed to fight the steering wheel.
