2nd gear issue when cold

Hi guys,

Doesnt happen everytime But quite annoying.

Sometimes, and only when cold, I select second gear and it feels really spongy. I let go of the gear stick and it just pops back out! 1st gear is also a pain to select when cold. All others seem ok!!

Gearbox oil changed approximately 2k ago, if that!!

This happens to me in 5th gear, I put it down to the cold weather. Doesnt happen when warm

Gear synchro is basically a rebuild job right??

Happens in summer too but much worse now.

mine pops out of 1st with rapid acceleration, usually the traction control fails so i guess the bumpyness does it?
anyone know if it's under the renault extended warranty?

Double check that the correct oil was used in the box, it's supposed to make a big difference!

Hiya. Had a discussion with the guys at the garage. Unless they lied, definitely the right stuff.

Fair enough, narrows it down a bit, even if it leaves the more expensive options I suppose!

Mine does this when its really cold, fine after its warmed up. Its also had new correct oil in about a year ago and only done 7k since.

had this on my valver, 2nd gear popped out all the time, used to have to keep my hand on it, stayed like that for a long time, then the usual thing happened.............................POP GOES THE BOX!

It's weird, put in gear and it feels really spongy and just pops straight back out. Do it again straight away and it's fine.

I'm not liking the way this thread is going. Lol

It's a old box that's had years of use, try learning to double clutch.
