3/4 Plates...

  Clio 182
My next mod will be a 3/4 plate, just wondering if anyone has trouble with the police regarding these? They look subtle but make a big difference but still classed as a "show plate"

Also do fancyplates do any CS discount? :D
EDIT: ^^^ just checked member discount section

Get one of the 3/4 height but standard length one, not many people on here have trouble with the police with those ones.

Just depends, you might get lucky with it, but I have read several people on here getting stopped and fined £60. Personally I don't think it is worth it even though the plates do look well they are pretty obvious.

I was thinking of getting double sided Velcro and keeping my original plates in the car and swapping over if I get pulled hopefully they'll let me away with it

Can't you just get standard digits with the plate trimmed down?

That would make it legal, no?

I got stopped twice with my 3/4 size plates (including smaller lettering). Never got fined or points but decided it wasn;t worth the hassle after the 2nd time.

no there must be an 11mm margin around all 4 sides of the font to still be legal.

I have the minimum legal size plate on my car, 79mm font plus 11m margin top and bottom so its 101mm high.

ive had a lot of trouble, fined twice so mines off. not worth the hassle as once you have been stopped, ur bait lol. plus they will clamp down especially for summer

Not a single bit of bother with mine.

I always feel that if you attract attention towards yourself by driving like a tube then you'l get done for it as the police go about your car looking for something to do you for and come across your plate.

Or they just wanna make a quick £60 like they did with me.. had it on for 6 months no worries then stopped and warned about it, then the next week stopped and fined.

I bought standard UK plates with the intention of trimming the front down to 90mm but i dont think i'll bother now, just seems to much bother.

Kinda regret getting mine now after reading this :/
Mine was only 112x90 something, so not as short as most peoples.

Is it worth the hassle when im gonna be learning to drive soon?

If you don't razz round town like a chav muppet, and can actually drive properly (are you going to do IAM? I would...) then you might be fine.
