3 day drive rev2

  tiTTy & SV650
Some of you may remember I did a 3 day roadtrip a couple of years back before selling my 182: http://www.cliosport.net/forum/showthread.php?t=263131

I had the last week off work but last minute had to head to Doncaster. So that left 3 days instead of 5. Took Ally's 3.0 Z4 and split fuel costs.

Trip was Glasgow (mine) - Falkirk (Ally's) - Doune - Crianlarich - Fort William - Arisaig - Mallaig - Skye - Sligachan campsite - Talisker Distillery - Kyle of Lochalsh - Plockton - Applecross - Eilean Donan Castle - Fort William - Laggan - Dunkeld - Falkirk - Kilsyth - Glasgow

The road to Applecross is the highest mountain pass in the UK and the scenery is spectacular, it's like a mini alpine pass but single track:

Roads were bone dry, sun was shining mostly and we only used 2 tanks of fuel. Recommended locations, stunning stuff.

Awesome! I've got something similar planned for August, heading up to Dornoch to see the parents, but going to turn it into a mini road trip :)

Good shout that Rory, would love to do this if we can get a few people together!

Been speaking to Gaz and Alan about organising a camp trip over a week end in late August if people are up for it!

Used to drive through Dornoch every week, A9 North of Inverness is good fun when quiet. Seriously recommend Strathpeffer - Ullapool - Tounge - Helmsdale (singletrack to Helmsdale on A897) then A9 to Dornoch

The single track bit would be so much fun if you didn't have to worry about something coming the other way!

Nah you can't be pushing it as there's not even an emergency calls only phone signal and no barriers in most places i.e. certain death lol and you dont get much passing traffic. Maybe 15 cars in 75 miles

Nah no spooning, plenty snoring. 5 man tent for 2 lol.

Prob looked a reet pair of fags tbh with the roof down.

Most of my pics were take using my phone, 8mp SE Vivaz, quite impressed.

Cheers for that Rory, I have a roadtrip planned at the end of the month. Heading up same kinda route but carrying on right up the west coast of Scotland and across to John O'Groats then back down.

They pictures are epic

Glencoe is amazing as is the rest and be thankful. Go further north though for empty roads

Top down = open air for farts to disperse

Great trip. Loved the roads and really enjoyed driving those roads in my Z4 - most of my trips up that way will be in my camper van from now on so it was nice to drive them in something fun.

Cracking pics - I've got 300+ photos on the SLR that I've not even looked at yet. Got back from this trip, downloaded the camera, charged the battery, and was back out the house within 90mins heading back up north to Fort William for the MTB World Cup (which I've got another 400+ photos to download from...). Hopefully I'll get some photos sorted out this week...

That'll be a great route - I've done the same but in the opposite direction. The singletrack roads can get a bit much at times but the scenery more than makes up for it, just relax and enjoy the view.

Best roads are north of Fort William IMO.

Great pics and looks a damn good way to spend 3 days. Me and Dave should get our permission slips in and try the same! ;) But we only have 1 sleeping bag.

More pics (from my DSLR - taken by Rory while I was driving, otherwise by me):

Cracking couple of days. My first proper roadtrip in the Z4 as I'm usually driving my camper van when we do these, but it was the ideal car. Roof was down almost all the time although my passenger wasn't the biggest fan of that :D, and boot was big enough for all our camping gear and food for a few days. Certainly the most impractical car on both campsites, apart from the nutter in the Caterham in the Applecross campsite (although he wasn't "tenting" and was in a cabin). It would've been nice to have done a couple more days but I had to be home to collect the van and drive back up to Fort William for the MTB World Cup at the weekend :)

Cool! Love those panoramas you've added. That single track road looks fantastic.

WTF is that logo all about though...
