With all due respect, you've bought a 9 year old car and without purchasing it from a family or friend, you will have zero idea of how its been treated since 2004.
You could have bought something that was a minter, or a complete, unpolished turd. Those are the risks. Why would you necessarily think that buying a 9 year old Ford, Beemer, Toyota, etc could or would be any different?
As Mick (and others) have said repeatedly - getting a diagnostic done is the only real course of action. If you have to save or borrow - that is what you'll need to do, or else the car is going nowhere.
