3 speed Auto transmission query

  Clio 1.4 RT 1993
I have a 1995 M Reg 1.4 RT clio with 3 speed auto transmission and I want to change the oil which I understand is a simple process compared to the 4 speed model, which requires specialist tools. The Renault service manual makes an oblique reference to replacing an "M type" filter for the 3 speed auto but is not shown in the owners manual. The Haynes manual also has no information on the 3 speed auto - only the 4 speed, so I am wondering if anyone can confirm whether or not the 3 speed has an integral filter and if so where is it located?

Many thanks Mick. I apologise for the delay in replying but I had to wait for my daughter to return the car today to enable me to get the info you require. The only numbers I can find are on the ID plate as follows:-

Chassis no - VF 1b57B 0112644506

Vehicle symbol - B57B

Reg no - M354 LDV (Not on the plate)

I do not know the gearbox code but there is a sticker on a small box attached to the gear box housing with the following info :- 641865EF
Refrigidor ( or similar word)

I don't know if any of the above is of any use but if you can recognise the auto gearbox from it, I would be much obliged if you could let me know whether it has an "M" type filter or not and if so, roughly how much they are?

Okay, the 3 speed MB1 box does indeed have a strainer which needs to be replaced as per the AD4 4 speed unit. Remove the sump (after draining off the oil of course) and you should see it.It says to replace the seal at the sametime also.
