3com access point

Fuckin doing my head in, its a 3com officeconnect 3crwe454a72

Can get into it at all, completeley reset it, the default IP address should be 192.168.1.1 I have the AP plugged into the network cant ping it. I've given my PC a static ip of 192.168.1.2 / 255.255.255.0 and still cant ping it. Tried plugging the AP straight into my laptop and still cant ping it, and given my laptop the same static IP and still cant ping it!!

Anyone any ideas why i cant get into this fuckin Access point

3com - are they not 192.168.2.1 by default mate?

Nah iv configured one this morning exactly same model and it was 192.168.1.1

You tried it anyway?

Sounds silly but you're not connected to more than one network at the same time are you? eg. wired and wireless or 2 wired?

Nah im not, i've just tried 192.168.2.1 and it still doesnt work, it defo should be 192.168.1.1

Try leaving tcp/ip settings on "obtain automatically" restart your computer, have a cup of tea then have lunch. Try again and it should work

One of my routers was doing this a while back - forgot what I did to get back in it - was something stupidly simple iirc

It's an access point.
It won't have a DHCP server built in.
It may be set to get an IP automatically itself.
Plug it into a network with a DHCP server in place, check the leases to see which IP it gets, and then connect to it that way.

I've done that, it dont appear to be in DHCP
