3G Brake Disks - Are they worth it?

I need a brake kit for my 182, decided on ds2500 pads and lines but cant decide on a disk, Its either Brembo HC or the HC 3G disks with the 10 groves and 10 dimples - its the RS10 disk but there £45 quid more than the standard brembo's - are they worth it?

i would get the max disks but i had them on my 1.4 and didnt really like them,

i might just get the HC ones then

Ive got the max grooved discs and ds2500 pads, 5.1 fluid and goodridge hoses and its the best thing ive ever done. They dont fade! i did nine laps of the nurburgring with no problems at all and the discs have no hot spots on them and have not cazed or cracked. I had an impreza before and had 5 different makes of pads and discs and these blow them all into next week! very impressed :)

I think i spoke to you sat nite fred. I asked you about the seats in a 182. I do like the suzukas you have.

as i said i had the max disks wasnt too keen on them under heaving braking but then i did 20k miles with the max disks and ds2500 pads, 3 trackdays and 15 ring laps and they held up well,

HC, 3G or Max then! I cant decide, Fred I need brake kit!

Those Max off eBay for £90 all in do seem a good buy, I'm definitely going to be picking a set up soon.

i've got brembo max's and carbon lorraine pads on mine. have to say they work well now they are bedded, much better than the standards. they do squeek alot with gentle braking (ie coming to a stop).

Got the brembo's off the same ebay guy.

I haven't tested anything else so I can't tell you if there is anything better out there. Probably is.

All I say is don't get any advice of people who sell them, they just want your money!

not true from us! i suggest people not to buy the max discs if they're not going on track, as they're a lot of money for a lump of iron!

i also advise against people buying the PF's unless they're true hardcore track nutters, call me mad, but i try not to sell something to someone who doesn't need it/isn't going to need it

I'd love to see some track time personally... missed castle combe few weeks back

Ive got tons of life left in my brakes atm tho so it would be a waste of money changing em now and theres more important things to replace like my battered shocks.

If sport car dealers thought like that they'd never sell ferrari's to footballers and movie stars just so they could pootle to the latest film premier ;)
They dont need a 500bhp italian monster they could do that in a fiat panda.

Apart from fred, he has given me good advice. Shame I have not bought anything off him.

LOL, nevermind! as long as you're happy fella, and hopefully appreciate my advise (i don't care if people don't buy owt off me! the amount of pm's i get asking random stuff and i always try to reply)

I just didnt like the vibrations i was getting under hard braking with the max disks felt like the pad was getting stuck in the groves! that was on my 1.4 tho maybe its different with the 182!

Fred can you sort me out with ds2500 pads, the moquip lines and either HC disks/3g rs-10 disk?

I need to call you guys but been waiting for payday - tomorrow!! ;)

hmm so what would people do, Brembo Max for £90 all in or Brembo HC for just £16 less?

asking which brakes people prefer is like asking which tyres you prefer or what oil you use.. make your own mind up from peoples opinions, experiences and the advice presented or this will end up a 16 pager and you'll still have no answer ;)

Ah ok. Have come from hc's and the max should be fitted thursday, be interesting to compare the two.

Dave if your getting vibrations then you have something wrong with car not the brakes. Brakes should never vibrate. If so then they must be either covered in hot spots or they need aligning while they are fitted to the hub of the car. Some garages have the equipment to do this and it grinds the high spots on the dic where it isnt running true due to the dics not bein made absolutely perfect. Ive had this done before on a brand new disc fitted to a car and you wouldnt believe how much run out there was! basically they werent flat!
