4 pot options (182)

  Turbo Beige
I have a standard set that i have just sold so i will weight them before i send them (disc's, pads and calipers). I would imagine the weight saving is around 10kg, they are loads lighter!!!!!

I'd always have 4 pots over stock brakes regardless of what pads etc people offered there a superbe setup so long as there done correctly.

Compairing Ds2500 and stock and 4 pots I'd go to the 4 pots all the time I had some on stock disk and they were superb could lokc them up as and when you wanted.

Certain companies think there overkill in a Clio buy ask people who've owned a good setup and they'll tell you otherwsie.

Stock disk are more than enough though no need for bigger ones.

I'm running Willwood 4 pots, with Wilwoods pad + Brembo Max disc. The performance is light years ahead of the standard equipment, granted the brakes a little nosiy, but its a small pay off for the gain in stopping performance.

Plus, the noise can be removed simply but using another pad compound.

Does the shed comp brake kit use standard discs, or if it comes with it's own non standards can you stick standards on as well? Also what fitment/price are the replacement pads? I've aaaaalways wanted a set of 4 ptos for as long as I can remember, was so close to getting some on my 19.

Comp brake kit use 295mm 2 piece disks and a choice of Hawk pad (fast road, trackday or race) pads are £70 and rotors also £70 ish.

So once you have bought the kit maintaining it is not to expensive.

Heres a link to the website

OK so thats going to be a £1100 - £1300 kit that you have to develop yourself.

As far as I can tell the only off the shelf kit for a clio is the comp brake kit.

You only get what you pay for, I'd rather get one developed, waiting a short time and knowinng it's the best!

Fair play. I am the same usually but with a 2.5k engine conversion to pay for in a few months I will have to go for the cheaper option.

  Weeman sucks ****
I spoke to Leo (oldskool) a few times on trackdays in the past who ran the brembo kit. He said the braking wasn't much different, just had a lot less fading.

Overkill unless you do as much track work as he does imo.

I looked at the AP kit, and you are looking at around £1500+vat, and what you get is essentially the same. The only major difference is the discs are 28mm wide instead of 24mm. The calipers are the ones that aren't dust sealed (same as compbrake) and you don't get hoses or pads!!!!

ahh comp brake aren't dust sealed? :(

I have ordered the compbrake kit so will let everyone know what I think.

I got a response from Godspeed brakes about there Brembo kit. It is £1000 inc VAT.

I've just fitted the Brembo's to my car and have found they give amazing pedal feel and good braking.

The cars on the track all weekend so I'll post up my thought next week.

:)

Different kit, that is Godspeeds own version. It uses there own discs and bells. The direct kit from AP is different.

Not sure on the spec of the kit. After what Paul J said about delivery times I wont waste my time with them.

I agree, i have heard the same things from lots of sources. The guy does own probably the nicest E30 M3 you will ever see though.

Do you still want a run in mine? How long is it going to be before you get the brakes?

I just weighted the original stuff, calipers discs and pads (no mounting hardware, becasue tjis is the same) and the weight was around 26kg (rough average of 5 weight ins).

Get them on then, you won't regret it!!!!

Just weighed the box so includes all fitting hardware and lines.

Approx 16kg.

5kg per wheel of unsprung weight

Bleed nipple wouldn't be much good at the bottom!!!

Look great but lack of dust seals would concern me due to my massive mileage.

In the supplied documentation it says -

DIRT SEALS DUST SEAL MUCK SEALS MYTH
The correct term is corrosion seals
Calipers are hard anodised aluminum with stainless steel pistons therefore there is nothing to corrode.

But at the end it says-

However we recommend regular inspection and servicing by trained technicians. :D

To be fair my last car ran 4pot un-dust sealed wilwoods and that was fine but it did far far less miles.

I was speaking to a guy from AP a few weeks ago and he basically said that they only run the dust/dirt seals as a precaution on the road calipers and that most of the race calipers only loose the seals becasue of a risk of them melting and causing other issues during a race/rally. He said that they don't believe there would be any issues with using the race calipers on road, as long as they are inspected for any issues every now and then. Thats only a 5min job anyway!!

I agree nothing wrong with none dust sealed realy just need to maintain them more check them for rust and maybe rebuild them ever one to two years but the parts are cheap.

I'd personaly always buy dust sealed as I'm lazy
