4 pots or Manifold & Bushes

  Fiat Coupe 20v turbo

I have some spare money at the moment and I cant decide what to spend it on. I am thinking either 4 pots /285mm discs from BB or Exhaust manifold and full set of poly bushes form K-tec. Decisions, decisions

I could get both but I always feel guilty about spending too much on my car. Might go for manifold & poly bushes then get the 4pots when Ive got the Nitrous fitted.

Id be careful on poly bushes Martin. I was going to fit them (polysport ones), and even bought them ready to fit but i encountered three problems.

1. A VW garage that deals with my car said the poly bushes for the Golf GTis are a really tight fit. Because of this they can actually cause a bit of damage during the normal movement of the suspension parts to the point were they wear away the metal surrounding the bushes.

2. The garage said that no matter how hard they tried, they couldnt get them to fit. It was THAT tight.

3. Ive been told by a certain engine tuner, that the bushes ruin the feel of the Williams. So if you want to retain that original feel i wouldnt bother.

Standard bushes from Renault are cheap enough, and i noticed a massive handling improvement even with these fitted.

Oh right, might consider standards then. Is there a difference between 16v and Williams bushes?

I had a full set of Powerflex bushes on my valver. Wore through the metal where it touched the subframe and a b*****d to get them on and off. Id go for the brakes if I were you.

Plus, what do you think the manifold is going to do for you? I doubt youll see any extra power/torque without proper engine mods as well, ie. head porting and polishing, sharper cams etc, in fact if anything (and Im assuming were talking about one of those fancy 4-1 stainless jobs) itll probably do a worse job than the existing Willy manifold which is tubular anyway. Just a thought :)

I thought the same thing, i cant see there being much improvement from the williams standard 4-1 manifold

Best thing i would suggest is porting the head outlet ports to match the manifold.. would increse airflow slightly if anything me thinks :devilish:

I thought I had decided and you had to throw a spanner in the works! Will be getting headwork and cams at some point this year so manifold wont be a waste. I dont know I might save for a few weeks and buy the lot. Will be best to go for new standard bushes by the sound of it though.

Ths standard Williams manifold is supposed to be good enough for engines well over 220 bhp so i doubt i would bother replacing it .

Go for uprated brakes as it is the brakes that are the weakest part of the Williams anyway .
