47 in a 30

Caught on dual carriageway where there were roadworks on the slip road. £ points and a £60 fine?

And another thing, I got caught (as above) on 21/12/04 and my insurance is due for renewal on 13/01/05. As the points will not be on my licences until after the renewal date will I have to declare them when I renew on the 13/01/05?

I would have thought so mate as if you crash or claim they ask to see your license.

The date of conviction will be the december date and it will show as this on your license. Because your renewal is january it dont match up and if for instance you have a prang say in july, theyll look at conviction date and renewal date and they dont match up for you not declaring.

For the sake of an extra £5-10 a month or so i would say declare them. Youd only be at a panic if you pranged your car in the future and awaiting a confirmation on a payout.

Not worth the risk IMO. Especially for the sake of an additional £ 50-100 per annum.

Righto, Ill renew it when 13/01/05 comes and when my points come through Ill let them know and be ready to pay an additional amount, that will work wont it?

Sorry to hear that mike, you will get 3 point + £60. They are total arseholes with the talivans round here just now.. where about was it ?

Gogarburn roadworks, I saw the van and it was pretty busy so Im going to question it because I was doing less than 40 when I saw the van and started braking as the cars in front were jumping on the anchors.

What are the chances>

  Shhh

3 points dont mean anything to insurance these days if you ask them. Its 6 upwards that they get concerned about. They may ask you if you have any points pending etc, so you would have to declare if they ask.

Ive had points in 1998, and if you keep your wits about you, you keep em off. I got them for doing 40 odd mph through the city centre on a bike sounding like a angry bumble bee, i was a kid and deserved it. These days i do 30 like everyone else.....

Unlucky Mike, its a very very hard place to stay at 30 because if you do all you get is abuse from everyone else on the whole bloody road, you get pushed along. Thought id been caught there doing just under 40mph on the way to my grandads funeral, as if things werent bad enough! Got away with it thankfully.
