5.1 sounds problem on youtube

Car  Jagggg...missing the 182!
For some reason, having just put on a fresh install of windows, videos on youtube are in 2 speaker stereo, yet 5.1 works with everything else fine?

Tried reinstalling flash player....no difference.

Anyone shed any light on this?

but a proper 5.1 setup wouldnt play youtube through more than two speakers anyway... as its just stereo... or even single channel mono..

i know you tube wont play in proper 5.1, but it should be stereo - using all speakers and the sub, not just the FL and FR.

well, thats how it used to work anyway, and how media player, winamp etc work, none of those are 5.1 either.

is there some sort of settings within flash or anything like that?

it shouldnt use all the speakers at all.. it should use two, lf and rf. wmp winamp etc all the same... if working correctly and set up properly will use two channels only!

what does? lol....

if you mean wmp, winamp etc if music comes out of all speakers its set up wrong.... it should use 2 channels .

There are some bits of audio hardware/software that will up-scale (for want of a better word) stereo into 5.1
Think mine is called DTS, but it's pretty pants tbh. music is designed for stereo.

Ah you can use settings like omni-directional etc but it's pseudo 5.1 thus pointless.
