59,000 miles and just started to Misfire!

Ive just hit 59,000 miles in the 172 having owned the Car for around 28 months. Car has been pretty reliable in the whole.

Coming back down the M1 tonight and going up a slight gradient the car starts to misfire and lose power. I carried on my journey and for the next couple of hours i kept getting misfire which was bad at points.

Im thinking that maybe the spark plugs have had it. I dont think they have been changed yet, service is due in a weeks time so am going to get them to order a set in just in case.

Anyone else got any ideas what it could be?, typically would get bad when car under load - e.g. going up slope.

Spark plugs should last 72k on the 172s. Having said that my 1.2 ones should of lasted 36k and instead one went after 6k..

The idle noise reminds me of a car down the road - modified ford escort turbo.

Its not much louder than normal if any. Not using the car at the moment so will find out when it has its service.

Had a resistor put in back in January of this year to disable downstream lambda sensor when I had the decat pipe on. Then told them to stick the cat back on and remove the resistor.

Hope they have actually removed the resistor and there is also no break in the wire.
